Drivers Unlock Tagging!

Transportation Committee

Members of the Transportation Committee are called upon to drive cadets to/from various activities and fundraisers like Tagging. Without volunteer drivers, these fundraisers cannot happen.

We would like to register every family in the squadron – this way we ensure that we have enough drivers when needed.

Benefits of Volunteering

One of the greatest benefits of volunteering is knowing that you’re contributing to a good cause by sharing your time and skills. I, Lance (SSC Chairman), have been part of this program since 2014 and have witnessed firsthand how it helps kids grow. My own child has told me many times, “Daddy, I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t a cadet.” I’ve never heard this kind of enthusiasm for piano, gymnastics, art, swimming, or any other activity.

If you’re a cadet parent, consider the long-term impact your involvement will have on your child. By volunteering, you’ll show your child that you’re committed to a worthwhile program and are willing to put in effort, just like you’re asking them to do. This is a powerful lesson that will motivate them to push themselves even harder. Remember, our actions speak louder than words.

3 Ways to Volunteer

What is Tagging?

Tagging is our most important fundraiser, occurring once in the Fall and once in the Spring. The cadets are stationed, in uniform, at stores within our community where they invite the public to donate to the squadron. When a donation is made, the cadet gives the donor a small paper tag with a red ribbon on it, to signify their support of the program. Hence the term, “Tagging.”

Usually, the cadets raise between $10,000 and $15,000 in each season. Tagging is critical. These earnings are what make the cadet program possible.

In order to carry out a successful tagging campaign, we absolutely rely on parents driving cadets to and from the stores. Without parents’ help, a Tagging campaign cannot even happen.
